Active Schools and Community Activation
In each Council ward we deliver the Active Schools and Community Activation programmes. Have a look at each ward and meet our Active Stirling team who work in each area.
Active Schools Coordinator
Michael McPake
- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in McLaren High School and feeder primary schools.
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs in partnership with the Community Activation Officer for the area.
- Develops young people as Sports Leaders to support school and community-based activity.
Community Activation Officer
Chris McKenna
- Supports local sports clubs including Bike Trossachs, McLaren Rugby Club, and Callander Cricket Club.
- Supports the development of Killin Sports Hub in partnership with Killin and Ardeoniag Community Trust.

- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in Balfron High School and feeder primary schools
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs along with Active Stirling’s Community Activation Officer
- Develops young people through Sports Leadership programmes at Balfron High School

- Supports local sports clubs including Strathendrick RFC, Strathblane Tennis Club and Balfron Golf Society.
- Supports Fintry Sports Club development as a sportscotland Community Sport Hub.

- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in Dunblane High School and feeder primary schools.
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs in partnership with the Community Activation Officer
- Develops young people as Sports Leaders to support school and community-based activity.

Tom Gebbie
- Supports local sports clubs including Dunblane Soccer Club, Bridge of Allan Sports Club and Bridge of Allan Judo Club.
- Leads the development of sport and physical activity programmes for people recovering from drug and alcohol misuse in partnership with Forth Valley Recovery Community.

Paul O’Shea
- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in Wallace High School and feeder primary schools.
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs in partnership with the Community Activation Officer
- Leads the partnership for schools with Scottish Disability Sport supporting Ochil House and Castleview Primary School.

- Supports local sports clubs including Stirling Camanachd, Stirling Knights Basketball Club and Stirling Swimming Club
- Supports community sport and physical activity programmes in Raploch and Cornton Locality Action Plan Communities.

- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in Stirling High School and feeder primary schools.
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs in partnership with the Community Activation Officer
- Partners with Inclusion Support to create opportunities for those facing barriers to participation in sport.

- Supports local sports clubs including Central Athletics Club, Cambusbarron Karate Club and Forth Valley Orienteers.
- Leads the delivery of women and girls only sport and physical activity programmes across Stirling.
- Supports community sport and physical activity programmes in St Ninian’s and Top of the Town Locality Action Plan Communities.

Grace Morrison
- Develops extracurricular sport and physical activity in St Modan’s High School and feeder primary schools as well as Chartershall and Millhall Schools.
- Creates pathways to local sports clubs in partnership with the Community Activation Officer for the area.
- Delivers an employability programme for targeted young people to support delivery in local primary schools.

- Creates pathways to local sports clubs along with Active Stirling’s Community Activation Officer
- Supports young people facing challenges through nurture groups, Young Carers and Scottish Sports Futures.

- Supports local sports clubs including Milton Football Club, Jonesy’s Boxing Club and Forth Valley Weightlifting Club.
- Supports Bannockburn and Eastern Villages Community Hub as a sportscotland Community Sport Hub.
- Develops sport and physical activity programmes for Military Veterans across Stirling
- Supports community sport and physical activity programmes in Plean and Bannockburn Locality Action Plan Communities.
