Our ice skating lessons follow British Ice Skating’s National Governing Body pathway, which guides you through the learn to skate badges 1–8.

After completing badge 8, your child can advance to our Skate Star programme, progressing through bronze, silver, gold, and platinum levels.

Lessons are available on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and are suitable for children from ages 5–16 years. They are ideal for beginners wanting to try ice skating, through to those at an intermediate level, with ice boot hire included in the cost of lessons.

Why choose to Learn to Skate with Active Stirling

Our programme is led by friendly, qualified instructors. All are British Ice Skating licensed coaches so you can trust your children are learning from the best.

Skate UK is the official Learn to skate programme by British Ice Skating. The benefits of following this programme is that it is designed to keep our skaters engaged, boost their confidence and challenge their athletic and technical skills.

Our skating coaches each have a tablet recording attendance and assessing children weekly. Parents are able to track their child’s progress through our Homeportal system – here

The Homeportal lists the skating techniques your child will be working on during their weekly ice skating lessons. Using this information as a guide, children may enjoy attending our public ice skating sessions where they can practice these skills out with their lesson time.

Active Stirling’s ice skating lessons provide the perfect mix of tuition and opportunity to practice, with lessons broken down into ½ hour of coached lesson and ½ hour of free skating time. Skaters can use this time to master their moves but also to establish new friendships with others in our ice skating programme.
