Each month, our Active Schools Team brings the excitement of football to secondary schools in Stirling with our Friday Football Festivals!

These sessions are becoming a favourite and growing – the aim of these fun, friendly events is to give young people the chance to play football, make new friends, and enjoy some active time together in a safe and supportive environment.

Created especially for young students, these festivals are all about fun and inclusion, where everyone feels welcome to join in, learn, and grow. With the support of School Inclusion Workers John Ferguson and Paul Docherty at Stirling High, and PC Paul McCafferty, School-Based Officer at Bannockburn and Stirling High, we’re able to make these events engaging and accessible to all.

Our aim is to help students build confidence, develop resilience, and strengthen their social skills while boosting their mental health and wellbeing. With encouragement from school staff and pupil support networks, we make sure every student who wants to participate can join in and enjoy the benefits of being active.

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for our young people, and the feedback has been so positive! John and Paul do an amazing job, and we’re thrilled to be working alongside them to make this happen.

Angela Hunter, Active Schools Manager

A huge thank you goes out to everyone involved and to the pupils who have joined in. We’re excited to see even more young people at our upcoming sessions!
