Get Ready to Get Active! Stirling Primary School Team Games Are Back This January!

It’s time to lace up those trainers and bring the energy because the Stirling Primary Schools’ Team Games are making a triumphant return this January! Hosted by our enthusiastic Active Schools Team, these fun-filled events will have local primary schools buzzing with excitement.

Our Active Schools Team are excited to bring back the ‘Team Games’ events for primary school pupils across Stirling.

Why Team Games?
The idea took place during the challenges of the Covid pandemic. With nearly 100 teams joining in the past, this is our third time of bringing the games to local schools.

We understand how tricky travel costs can be, so we’ve kept things simple: the games are designed to be played in your own school with minimal equipment. Whether it’s during PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs, or inter-house competitions, there’s a place for everyone to join the fun!

More Than Just Games

The benefits of physical activity for children are endless—improved health, stronger friendships, better teamwork, and, of course, having a blast while staying active. These games will help kids build confidence, connect with others, and learn essential skills in a fun, supportive environment.

There’s something for everyone in these 8 exciting activities, designed for P4–P7 pupils to compete in teams of 4–6. Here’s a sneak peek:

  • Skip-A-Roo: Skip, run, and tag your way to victory with this fast-paced team challenge.
  • Wall Catch: Test your co-ordination as you throw and catch a ball with opposite hands.
  • Bean Bag Throw: Perfect your aim by tossing bean bags into hoops.
  • Shuttle Run: Dash to the line and back—don’t let your opponent's beat you!
  • Take Aim: Pass the ball through a tricky cone course without knocking anything over.
  • Bean Bag Balance: Balance a bean bag on your head while navigating cones. Tricky but fun!
  • Throw Relay: Keep the tennis ball moving between teammates without dropping it.
  • Hop Relay: Hop around cones and reach the finishing line—it’s all about teamwork and speed!

The Stirling Primary School Team Games is an exciting concept that allows all pupils in Stirling to compete against teams from other schools, without the need to leave their own school. The event has been designed to challenge pupils in eight different physical activities - testing balance, throwing & catching, running, and a host of other gross motor skills - as well as develop teamwork through activity. Good luck to every school taking part!
